Local Shops

If you like the idea of shopping in Glasgow just by walking down a street instead of going into a shopping center, one of the streets that you will certainly want to head down is Buchanan Street. There are several shopping centers located on this street, but there are also many small, independent stand alone shops along this road as well. Buchanan Street tends to have more high end, designer stores than other areas of Glasgow and can be a bit more expensive than what you would find elsewhere. In addition to the designer fashion stores, you'll also find bookshops, stores that sell movies and music, department stores, and technology stores on Buchanan Street, as well as a few restaurants and places to eat.

Sauchiehall Street

Another street that is good for shopping in Glasgow is Sauchiehall Street. It is slightly outside of the centre of Glasgow, but is connected to many of the other major streets that are good for shopping and finding the best deals in fashion. There are a lot of quality shops on Sauchiehall Street, and it contains many high end fashion boutiques and stores. There are also many tea shops on Sauchiehall Street, so you can spend a lovely afternoon strolling in beautiful Glasgow, checking out the shops, and sipping tea.

Argyle Street

Like Sauchiehall Street, Argyle Street is another place that is well known for being a good location to go to for shopping in Glasgow. It is one of the main shopping streets in Glasgow, and offers a large variety of different stores and places to shop. Argyle Street is almost two and a half miles long, so there are plenty of shops all along the street. You can find all types of shops here, from designer clothing to fun accessory shops to small souvenir shops. Argyle Street is also known for having more discount shops and bargains than some of the other popular shopping streets in Glasgow.

Italian Centre

For another place that has luxury stores and high end fashions, head on over to the Italian Centre on John Street. The building itself in which the Italian Centre is located is very beautiful, so it's certainly worth bringing a camera and taking a few pictures in between hitting up the shops. The atmosphere in the Italian Centre is quite nice, and you'll enjoy spending some time strolling through and visiting the luxury and brand name stores here. When you are done with your shopping the Italian Centre also has several cafes for a light meal or a snack, as well as some delicious Italian restaurants.

Savoy Center

Another shopping centre that is located on Sauchiehall Street is the Savoy Center, a nice shopping centre that has two floors and many different types of stores. The Savoy Center is an excellent place to go if you want to find some local or cultural Scottish goods, as they have stores here that sell handmade Glasgow artwork, jewellery, and other crafts. The Savoy Center also has some nice gift shops and a few other specialist stores. If you're looking for a unique Glasgow shopping experience, the Savoy Center is certainly a place you want to try.

The Forge

Anyone that wants to shop in a place that has over 70 high end and designer shops will find themselves at The Forge. In addition to the many different stores that offer things like clothing, fashion accessories, electronics, beauty products, gifts, and more, the Forge is also a great place to go for both food and entertainment. The Forge has several cafes and fast food restaurants when you need a break from shopping, and it is also host to a few different events. If you visit The Forge on the weekend you'll be able to experience good entertainment, such as watching a free film.

Silverburn

Those that find themselves in South Glasgow that are eager to do some shopping will probably end up in Silverburn. This shopping centre has many different stores with something to offer to everyone that visits. In Silverburn you'll find department stores, clothing stores, card and gift shops, and more. The clothing stores in Silverburn vary from high end designer outfits to decent deals in some of the other stores. There is also a small food court and area to get a meal in Silverburn, featuring several different types of foods.

The Fort

The Fort at Glasgow is another fun place to do some shopping in the city. The Fort is a shopping centre, and it has quite a few different shops that offer anything that you might need. It's more of a casual place than some of the more high end or designer shopping centres, but the Fort has plenty to offer, from clothing to cards and gifts to electronics. One of the great things about the Fort is that there is a lot for kids here, so youngsters won't get bored. They provide a child's area where the kids can play on a slide, try out some video games, use the toys there, and more.

Byres Road

Finally, anyone that wants to truly experience good shopping in Glasgow will have to go to Byres Road. There are a number of shops on this road, from the high end to the bargain stores. Byres Road is close by to the University of Glasgow, so there are a lot of college students in the area and a lot of stores that cater to this age group and budget. You can also find a lot of art and culture items for sale on Byres Road. In addition, Byres Road has quite a few places where you can get some food, so in between all the shopping you'll have a place to take a break.
